The Book of Chances

The order window for The Book of Chances will close October 31!

The Book of Chances is a deck of 55 playing cards (a regular set with three Jokers) where each card has additional markings to aid musicians as they write and produce. Created by Andrew Huang with artwork by Tormius, cards can be drawn and used in a variety of ways to spark inspiration or give directions whenever you’re feeling stuck, or even to provide you with a starting point.

Nodding to Brian Eno’s famed Oblique Strategies, and an homage in title to John Cage’s work using the I Ching (“Book of Changes”) to create music from chance operations, The Book of Chances was conceived to also be able to provide more concrete musical input into your process. Also, it includes traditional values and suits so you can actually use it to play card games!

The deck includes a link to exclusive content that shows all the methods Andrew has come up with for using it so far.

Orders are expected to arrive in late 2025 - please be aware that while we are optimistic about arrival for the holiday season, we can’t guarantee it for every destination.

NOTE: Due to customs complications and shipping limitations, we are unable to fulfill orders to PO boxes, Brazil, Colombia, Russia, Ukraine and Vietnam; any orders placed from these countries will be automatically canceled and refunded. Our shipping service has also noted delivery in Mexico can be uncertain. We apologize for the inconvenience!
